Glenn and I are today celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Whilst our plans for the trip are foremost in our minds and saving we could not let this milestone go by without celebrating it. Our original plan was for a week long trip to Norfolk Island but we can do a lot with the $3000 or so that would cost and put it towards the trip to Europe.
So an alternative plan was hatched and we both took Friday off work and spent a long weekend right here in the city of Brisbane. We stayed in a studio apartment at Mantra Southbank. We enjoyed buffet breakfasts at the hotel, dinners out in the restaurants of the Southbank Parklands and on Friday night we went to see the play, The Mousetrap.
On Saturday morning we took the citycat to New Farm Park and the fresh food markets and on our return visited the APT Contemporary Art at both the Gallery of Modern Art and the Art Gallery. Luckily both were air conditioned as we have just had the hottest weekend here in Brisbane. How different will the temperatures be in Europe. One extreme to another!!!
Luckily the hotel had a pool and spa which were put to good use and the hotel also provided us with a bottle of sparkling wine and a lovely card.
Now back to the planning. Flights are available to 20 December so booking is getting closer.
